SEEKING SUPPORT TO HELP INFORMAL WORKERS AND ARTISANS
GoodWeave India works with informal and marginalized workers and artisans engaged in the supply chains of Carpet, Home Textiles, Fashion Jewellery and Apparel industries. The pandemic of COVID-19 forced these workers and artisans to migrate, putting the supply chains of Carpet, Home Textiles, Apparel and Fashion Jewellery sectors into threat. In such labour intensive sectors where hand made and artistic products are appreciated and exported to many European countries, now stand disrupted.
Currently, GoodWeave India has been working with 90,000 informal workers and marginalized artisans and their 41,000 children in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan. While the pandemic continues, most of the workers who had earlier migrated to their homes are now coming back to their work locations.
Understanding the crisis, preserving the weaving arts and ensuring their children receiving educational support are among the immediate needs to rebuild their ecosystem. GoodWeave has been working tirelessly with these workers and employing businesses to build a robust ecosystem that offers long lasting resilience in the worker communities of Carpet, Home Textile, Fashion Jewellery and Apparel industries.
We are looking for support from multiple stakeholders to strengthen our efforts in accelerating and widening the support process.
